In pursuit of his strident desire to ensure an enabling environment for effective private sector participation in the development of Ika South Local Government Area, the Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to putting measures in place for such partnership to thrive.
Engr. Ehiwarior gave the assurance while presenting Start Up Kits to beneficiaries of the Excellence Community Education Scheme (ECEWS) organized by Rural Linkage Network (RULIN) at the Local Government Secretariat, Agbor.
He said his administration was particularly interested in any effort at empowering the youths of Ika South local government area through quality education and skills acquisition, and disclosed that his administration was planning to engage some youths and women in acquiring viable skills to better their lives.
Specifically, he said, “We are very much aware and sensitive to the hardship being experienced by our people. Any effort to mitigate their pains will be highly appreciated and supported by the government.
“That is why I am very excited by what Rural Linkage Network is doing to improve the living condition of our people, especially the youths and women. It is a gesture that should be applauded by all well- meaning people of Ika South.
“Like I always say, bringing our people out of poverty is not what government alone can do. We need the support of upscale individuals and corporate organizations to be able to drive the process.
“It is my hope that more people and corporate bodies will see the need to key into this noble initiative for the overall growth and development of our community.”
While appreciating the organizers for their altruistic disposition in the light of prevailing poor socio- economic realities in Nigeria, the local government boss appealed to the beneficiaries to put to good use the skills acquired and the Start Up Parks given to them.
He advised them to regard the gesture as their launch pads to sustainable economic success.
