Former Governor James Ibori of Delta State has began secret campaign to actualize the 2023 governorship ambition for his anointed candidate, David Edevbie.
Several meetings have been held in Oghara resident of James Ibori, where some selected chieftains of the people’s Democratic party were in attendance.
It was gathered that in the meeting, Ibori spoke extensively why he was insisting on throwing his support for Edevbie for the 2023 governorship election.
It was learnt that before the emergence of James Ibori as Governor of Delta State, himself (Ibori) and David Edevbie were living under one roof in London.
According to sources, Ibori was the one who assisted David Edevbie to secure job in the bank as manager and later Regional Manager in London.
James Ibori in London was using Edevbie in money laundering as Regional Manager of the bank.
Investigations revealed that because of the close tie between them, as Ibori became the governor of the state, he brought Edevbie from London to become a commissioner for finance.
This was why throughout Ibori’s administration for 8years, he used David Edievie in diversion of the State’s treasury into foreign accounts.
Being trusted by James Ibori, Edevbie was appointed principal secretary to the former president, Umaru Yar’ Adua, who Ibori sponsored his election with 10billion naira Delta State fund.
With the position of Edevbie as principal secretary so many fraudulent contracts, were secured by Ibori using one Mathew Edevbie in the execution of projects across the country.
Ibori is making everything humanly possible to see that Edevbie becomes the next governor of the state come 2023.
It was gathered that with Edevbie being the governor, he will continue to represent Ibori’s interest.
Inspite of Ibori’s push to see that David Edevbie clinches the number one seat of the State, some chieftains of PDP in the State are not comfortable with the arrangement of Ibori supporting Edevbie.
It was learnt that since the removal of Edevbie as chief of staff Government House by governor Ifeanyi Okowa, his popularity is diminishing on daily basis following his proud nature.
