The Police from the Delta State Police Command have gone after the indigenes of Idigbe-Oji and Umuomake Quarters in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State for the murder of a former staff of Shell Petroleum, Mr Okolie Ikem Anthony.
Mr Okolie was shot in the chest on May 21, 2024 in his residence at Idigbe-Oji Quarters.
According to information available to ZN revealed that on the fateful day of the incident, Anthony Okolie was shot by his killers as he was relaxing at the corridor of his house at about 9.00pm.
It was learnt that he was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital,Asaba where he undergone several surgeries before he died.
Since the death of Mr Okolie Anthony, many indigenes of the above quarters have been arrested by the police for allegedly being involved in the killing following a petition written by his family members.
It was gathered that before Mr Okolie Anthony gave up, he mentioned the name of one Mr Suru from Umuomake quarters as the person that shot him on the chest.
Mr Suru has been arrested by the police because of the statement made by the deceased person against Mr Suru.
Many Umuomake indigenes have deserted the area for fear of police arrest.
Checks by ZN revealed that before the death of Mr Okolie Anthony, he was the Chairman of bush committee and had been receiving several threat to his life from some land grabbers in Idigbe-Oji and Umuomake Quarters in Okpanam as alleged by some members of the family.
The Police is still investigating the matter to unravel the circumstances that led to the killing.
