Negative Reportage: Delta Speaker Warns Community Newspaper Publishers

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has warned Publishers Of Community Newspaper Publishers in the State to be wary of negative reportage that may affect the image of personalities in the State.
Guwor made the disclosure when Members of Association of Community Newspaper Publishers Of Nigeria(ACNPN), Delta State Council led by its Chairman, Comrade Jude Obiemenyego paid him a courtesy visit in his office, at Delta State House of Assembly Complex, Asaba.
According to Rt(Hon) Guwor, before going for publication, Publishers should endeavour to carry out indepth investigation of stories to avoid falsehood.
He said “it will not do Delta State any good if you publish on falsehood, because it is necessary for Journalists to make adequate verification and balancing of stories before publishing”.
The Speaker emphasized that no sane society would undermine the importance of the media because as a legislative arm of government, for us to suceed effectively in our legislative assignment, there is need for us to partner with the Community Newspaper Publishers for robust working relationship.
Addressing the Publishers, Rt(Hon) Emomotimi Dennis Guwor further maintained to sustain the good working relationship already established by his predecessor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori with the Delta State Community Newspaper Publishers.
More importantly, the Speaker promised to keep a better partnership that will transform the lives of the Publishers.
Guwor stated “we are in the period of M.O.R.E, my predecessor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged to deliver more infrastructural and Human Capital development to Deltans”. Also Speaking, the Speaker, Emomotimi Dennis added that the lawmakers are fully ready to ensure that all the constuents represented in the hallow Chamber, feel the impact of good governance in the State.
The Deputy Speaker, Rt (Hon) Arthur Akpowowo, Majority Leader, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Festus Okoh and others were all present at the visit to the Speaker.
