* Was Against Powershift Because Self Centredness
A recent publication by Philip Elueme, one of the hungry Anioma sons, claiming that Peter Nwaoboshi, from the area was the architect of powershift that made it possible to produce Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifeanyi Okowa, as Governors of Delta State through Equity Group and Anioma Congress, has been refuted by Anioma sons and daughters of repute. They said the claim was a hoax.
They told ZN that Phillip Elueme, who is presently one of the unemployed house boys of Nwaoboshi, that wrote on behalf of him , was only trying to relaunch Nwaoboshi, who has a very bad image with the public in preparation for the 2027 Senatorial election.
The Anioma indigenes, confirmed that there was no iota of truth in what Phillip Elueme was saying. Moreover he who was returnee to Delta State as at the time of event happening was residing in the Northern part of Nigeria wasting his youthfulness. With the fake information given in the publication , it was obviously clear that Elueme was fed with the said information in the publication to project and put back himself to public acceptance after representing Delta North badly, while holding public office.
Stating further, they said it was a known fact that Nwaobishi was a major factor that militates against the progress of Delta North and was a main block used then by Delta Central to truncate powershift to Delta North.
The power shift to Delta North was made possible because of Onu Anioma Group that came up then for the liberation of Anioma Nation from the hands of the Urhobos under the then James Ibori’s administration.
Even at that, according to Delta Northerners, Nwaoboshi was the one being used by James lbori, to hunt members of the Onu Anioma Group and clamped them in police stations round the State. People like Fred Ajudua, who was the major financier of the group can testify. They said Nwaoboshi was like Saul in the Holy Bible unflinching terror on the Aniomas.
Equity Group was not truly formed for power shift, but for selfish interest. That was why it fizzled out quickly. What happened was that a group of persons who were in the system then that were losing favour with the governor came together to form the group in order to relaunch themselves into the system.
Anioma Congress, was never the brain child of Nwaoboshi, and he never new when it was formed. People like the former Clerk of the Delta State House of Assembly, Dan Okenyi and others involved can testify.
Comparing former President of Nigeria, Late Nnamdi Azikiwe and the former Premier of Western Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo, with Nwaoboshi, was degrading and insulting to their
persons. Those eminent Nigerians were not involved in any alleged known criminality like Nwaoboshi, revealed the sons and daughters of Anioma Nation.
Speaking further they stated that the greedy Nwaoboshi who worked for the embattled Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the immediate past Senate President, Ahmed Lawan during the Presidential Primary of the APC against President Ahmed Tinubu, must not be allowed to hold any public post.
More on Nwaobishi, the Delta Northerners, said he should hide his face in shame because he committed a lot of atrocities while in office, having used his positions to short change the people of Delta North.
For instance as PDP party Chairman and Senator, before joining the APC, he held all the Council Chairmen that existed in his local government to ransome, except Innocent Esewuzie, that presently left office. He made sure that all the federal allocations of the Council were shared in his bedroom under his dictate. He decided who to hold Council Offices or who not to hold.
Secondly, as a Chairman of a lucrative NDDC, he allegedly did all the contracts that came to his constituent through a front. Most annoying was that non of the contracts that were executed were of quality jobs. Especially in his home town where the roads constructed and street lights installed did not last more than three months. The roads were so poorly executed that what were supposed to be joyous to his people became sorrowful because the roads became tools to channel flood into the people’s compounds and houses.
Speaking further the Delta North people told ZN, that through out Nwaoboshi’s office tenure he cannot mention of any person that he empowered positively.
In another development the Delta Northerners told ZN that Elueme, and Nwaobishi, should stop addressing themselves as APC stalwarts, because they didn’t work for President Tinubu, but worked for Emefiele and Lawan.
In further statements of the Delta Northerners, they said the Elueme should also stop comparing his failed master, Nwaobishi and sponsor whose father was an alleged murderer, with Senator Ned Nwoko, who has done well within this short period he came into the red chamber. He was told that his sponsor,Nwaoboshi, was not of the same quality with Ned. Because Ned, has no alleged criminal records like his sponsor, Nwaoboshi who degraded himself to the extent of allegedly stealing the cheque leaf of late Senator Ikpo, which he allegedly falsified the signature of the elder statesman in order to steal N200,000 from the account before he was caught and taken to the police station in Ibusa, his home town in a disgraceful manner.
Ned, has been representing Delta Northerners very well right from when he was a member that represented Anioma /Oshimili Federal Constituency in the NASS years back
For instance as a member of House of the representatives, he was able to achieve the followings for his constituency, which include the dualization of Benin/Asaba expressway, construction of Police Headquarters, Asaba, construction of NTA, Asaba. His efforts brought the inclusiion of many primary schools in Aniocha/ Oshimili constituency in the Universal Basic Education. Amongst other projects attracted by Ned, while in the House of the Representatives were the renovation and facelift of Abuanor Primary School, Ogwashi -Uku, Abuedo Primary School, Ubulu- Uku, Ani-Nshi Primary School, Ogwashi- Uku, Ugwu-Atakpo Primary School, Ibusa, Agbogidi Primary School, Akwukwu-Igbo, Eki Primary School, Ukwunzu, Ugboko Primary School, Idumuje-Ugboko, Ebune Primary School, Issele-Uku, Anidinma Primary School, Onicha- Ukwu, Nke Eze Primary School, Ugbodu, Asagba Primary School, Asaba.
It was Ned, that initiated the Ogwashi-Uku Dam Project, for both irrigation and water supply to the large part of Delta North. He single handedly financed the study and design of the dam project. Ned facilitated the connections of many communities to the National Grids, which included Ogwashi-Uku, and Ukala-Okpunor. As a Philanthropist, in 1999, he was the first to donate his furniture allowance to indigent students in 32 secondary school students and 32 undergraduates benefited from his scholarship). The students were presented with N30,000 and N60,000 However he was the Leader of the Millinium Group. Consequent upon his performance in the House, President Olusegun Obasanjo then was always proud to have him in his entourage during most of his foreign tours. He was the most travelled member of the House with Obasanjo. As a member of the house, Ned served in various House Committees, amongst which were: Chairman, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, member, Defence Committee, member Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as Standing Committee that drafted the House Rules. As a House member, he was the 2nd highest sponsor of bills, amongst which were Minimum Wage Bill,Monetization Bill(which Federal and State workers are enjoying today), Anti _ Corruption Bill, that gave rise to EFCC, which today is adjudged to be sanitising the society, Bill for the regulation of the activities of Motorcycle riders(Okada) in Nigeria, a bill for the prohibition of expensive burial rites in Nigeria, Federal Road Modification bills etc. On Federal projects, Ned Nwoko worked tenaciously to attract a lot of projects to his constituency.
During his tenure in office, he took traditional rulers and leaders from his constituency to meet with President Obasanjo then, to make a case for his constituency to be included in the Oil Producing Communities of the Niger Delta, because it has been proven that oil was abundant in that area. This gesture has given rise to the approvals for the establishments of the School of Technology, Isheagu. He donated N350,000 to St Michael’s Catholic Church, Okpanam, N500,000 to Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Ogwashi-Uku, N500,000 to St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ogwashi-Uku, N500,000 to St Charles’s Catholic Church, Ubulu-Uku, N500,000 to St Mark’s Anglican Church, Ubulu-Uku, N1Million to St Paul’s Catholic Cathedral, lssele- Uku, N500,000 to St Leo Meriscodiac Catholic Church, Ashaka, 500,000 to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Kwale, N500,000 to St John the Baptist’s Catholic church, Boji-Boji, Agbor, N500,000 to Christ De Lord’s Catholic Church, ldumuje-Ugboko, N500,000 to St Matthew’s Anglican Church, ldumuje-Ugboko, Nlmillion to Central Mosque, Asaba, Nlmillion to St Joseph Pro-Cathedral Catholic Church, Asaba, N200,000 to Cherubim and Seraphim Church, ldumuje-Ugboko, N1million for the building of a befitting Palace for the Obi of ldumuje- Ugboko.
They stressed that Ned who is not a cruel and jealous man like Nwaoboshi, can never take anybody’s credit to himself like Nwaoboshi does, talk less of asserting President Tinubu ‘s credit to himself. Elueme should know that there is no short cut to the corridor of power. His sponsor, Nwaoboshi, has been defeated by Ned in the last senatorial election, so he will never have opportunity again to come to that position because he was a wicked man that derived joy in seeing the poor suffering.
The Delta Northerners in their statements stated that the Elueme should stop making references to Ngozi Olejeme, Omani Sobotie, Omo agege, Doris Uboh and others. They asked the Elueme, whether it was not his sponsor, Nwaobishi that secretly petitioned Ngozi Olejeme to the Antigraft Agency, because he As a member of the House of Representatives, he attracted lots of Federal projects to Delta State, which include the dualization of Benin/Asaba expressway, construction of Police Headquarters, Asaba, construction of NTA, Asaba. They confirmed that Nwaoboshi, who is politically out of job was casting aspersions against Ned to enable him secure political appointment from President Tinubu. But they said, that won’t be possible because despite Nwaoboshi was in prison during the 2023 election. there was alleged revelation that he gave order to his followers to vote for Peter Obi of Labour Party, against President Tinubu, who was a member of his party. That was the height of wickedness of Nwaobishi.
He was one of the reasons why APC lost woefully the 2023 Gubernatorial election in Delta State to PDP.
Same him has been making secret moves to return to the PDP, where he left to join APC. According to the Delta Northerners, they said he had even gone to beg the former Governor of the State, Ifeanyi Okowa, the present Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and same Ned, he was casting aspersions.
