Okpanam is a community situate in Delta State capital territory under the Oshimili North Local Government Area of the State. The community which is the largest community in the capital territory with the highest population, peaceful and blessed with educated people and individuals with integrity, but ruled by traditional criminals under the headship of the Ugo-ani, its Royal Majesty, Mbanefo Michael.
Land grabbing and stealing of peoples’ land have become the stock in trade of the Ugo-ani and his criminal cabinet that have held Okpanam community hostage with dubious affairs.
Sometime ago, the Ugo-ani was arrested with one Mecdon by the police for stealing people’s lands in Obodogba Quarters, Okpanam and forging the signature of the Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa. As if that was not enough, he and his criminal cartel secretly sold out the Obodogba communal land running into thousands of plots to a senator at a give away price and money shared amongst them.
This illegal sales of land by Ugo-ani and his criminal cartel led to a court action against them. They were dragged to court and the court instructed that auditing of Obodogba lands should be done by the team that took them to court.
But what baffled the eyes as a twist came into the matter, the team that dragged Ugo-ani and his cartel to court has now joined the criminal activities of Ugo-ani and his group. Instead of proceeding to carry out the auditing as directed by the court, the team has formed a criminal ring trying to sell over one thousand plots of lands released to the Obodogba community by the Delta State government. The criminal ring did not stop at that, but proceeded to forge documents and the signature of the late Diokpa Isi of Obodogba, and Okpanam.
The aim of the group earlier was for the Ugo-ani and his cartel to give account of lands stolen by them, recover all lands sold illegally by Ugo-ani and his cartel or any person, and distribute lands to the sons of the community that were yet to get their own lands as earlier shared by the community before these land bandits started stealing the lands.
The genuine people of the community will also like to know who secretly signed the documents used in given out over fifty acres of lands around Nnemiyi area of Obodogba Quarters to one Mr. Shalom as a settlement under the pretence of executing land project for the community.
He who goes to equity must go with free hands.
The action of this criminal ring who went under the pretence of land recovering for the Obodogba community has shown that they are evil, dubious, unreliable and have criminal intensions like the Ugo-ani and his cartel.
