ZN garnered from sources that the future of Okpanam Kingdom is fleeting like whirlwind as traditional bandits and monsters, under the leadership of Ugo-Ani of Okpanam, who are worse than colonialism eat up today’s well being of Okpanam people and destroy their tomorrow. Sources told ZN that the Ugo-Ani’s leadership has lost its senses and has mortgaged the future of Okpanam youths and some of the so called elders of the town who were supposed to be custodians of Okpanam culture and traditional privileges have also joined the Ugo-Ani’s leadership in this shameless naked dance, hence betraying posterity. The sources stated that the Ugo-Ani and the drought that brought Okpanam Kingdom to this gorgeous state demands immediate action. Speaking further the sources said that It was said that, when there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you. The enemies outside have been able to invade Okpanam land and their heritage because Ugo-Ani and his Monsterous cabinet are enemies within. Explaining further the sources maintained that well meaning Okpanam indigenes should come together and begin a lawful process of removal of Ugo-Ani as the traditional ruler. The Ugo-Ani and his cabinet should be made to understand that a man who drives his father’s car is not entitled to speak in a council of men who owns bicycle. Community and traditional situation in Okpanam has degenerated to the lowest ebb since Ugo-Ani took up the throne. Said the sources, If Ugo-Ani and his cabinet are allowed to continue with their negative leadership direction, then Okpanam will be doomed and have no hope of restoration, for the town will remain indefinito or imprecise like a sheep without shepherd.
Revealing, the sources said, presently the Ugo-Ani has a lot of cases both in police and court that form albatross on him ranging from civil to criminal cases. Sources confirmed to ZN that some persons that were courageous enough to challenge those believed to be illegally annexing Okpanam land to themselves have been receiving threat to their lives. Same sources further confirmed to ZN that some persons within the police authority who were working underground with the Ugo-Ani and his cabals sat on all the petitions to the police in regards to their plights. It was further alleged by sources that there was a plan by these enemies of light to frame up criminal charges of unlawful possession of arms, gun running against those that have challenged the uncivilized happenings in Okpanam. Same sources said Ugo-Ani has turned Abuja to his second home, where it was alleged that he has been spending some resources on some corrupt members of the police and judicial authorities to enable him and his co accussed have a soft landing in a criminal case they are facing.
Meanwhile, a Civil Rights organization known as the Civil Liberties Organization which has Professor Wole Soyinka, as one of the the Patrons, which has been following the development of the threat to life of some persons involved in this matter has called on the police both at the Delta State Police Headquarters and at the Inspector General of Police’s office, to look out for those who have sat on the petitions and preventing investigations into the matter. When found they should be brought to book for pervading justice.
However, same sources told ZN that when tensions like these built up years back in Okpanam before the advent of Ugo-Ani, there were breakdown of law and order, Okpanam was turned to war zone because the police allegedly failed to act when tensions like this was building up. Efforts made by ZN to reach the Ugo-Ani on the issues were rebuffed by some persons at the entrance of the palace gate.
