As the raining season is fast approaching, the hearts of the residents of Mama Banigor Street, Opposite Delta State College Of Nursing Science (formerly known as School Of Midwifery), Okpanam, would be jumping into their mouths because of the bad state of the street.
ZN, visited the street, it was discovered that the street required urgent attention from the present State government. Previous governments have failed to put the street in a conducive state that would have been useful for vehicles and pedestrians, despite have tarred other streets or roads within the area.
It was said that it is better be late than being late, based on this adage, appeal is being made to the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, as a matter of urgency to come to the aid of the residents of the area by giving the street a facelift. Facelift in this aspect means urgent tarring of the road with drainage because of the topography of the street.
How can it be said that all the streets in the area have been tarred except Mama Banigor Street, that is directly opposite the College of Nursing Science, while the adjacent road, Dcn Mmoneke Street, is presently under construction. Although it looked as if the contractor handling the project had abandoned the project.
Information, reaching ZN revealed that sometime ago a child returning from school got drawn in Mama Banigor street, because of the heavy flood that found its way to the street.
Also ZN garnered that why the street is still looking the way it is now was due to self efforts and help being applied regularly by the residents.
If Gov Sheriff would take up as a matter of urgency to tar the street it would be a very good credit to him and his government that is not up to a year giving a facelift to a street that had been abandoned by previous governments.
