A BYE-LAW FOR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTIES PROTECTION, TO PROHIBIT FORCEFUL ENTRY AND ILLEGAL ACQUISITION OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE LANDED PROPERTIES, VIOLENT AND FRAUDULENT CONDUCTS IN RELATION TO PUBLIC AND PRIVATE LANDED PROPERTIES AND TO REGULATE REAL ESTATE BUSINESSES IN RURAL AREAS IN OSHIMILI NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF DELTA STATE, 2023 AND FOR RELATED MATTERS
AKWUKWU-IGBO: The aforementioned bill has successfully passed second reading at the legislative arm of Oshimili North Local Government Council, were the legislature held their plenary and spoke extensively, why the bill should be enacted on the illegal acquisition of land and forceful entry into public and private property, with a need for the local government to come up with a regulation on how to abate and nip such Vice on the board
Hon. Anthony Nweke, Majority leader who moved the motion, also spoke extensively on the merit of the bill, while urging honorable members present to give the bill a speedy passage, which will help regulate real estate businesses in rural areas
The bill which has passed the first reading and second reading, was committed to a seven man Adhoc committee, that will be chaired by Barr Hon Stella Mejulu, with a view to sit and consider the bill, looking at it, clause by clause and section by section and make amends when necessary and it is also expected that the committee will conduct a public hearing where stakeholders will be invited to speak on the merits and demerits, but convincingly the merits will definitely supersede the demerits.
It was further observed, that the honorable members who are objectively minded will give this bill an easy passage, with the Leader of the Legislative arm, Hon. Adim Ofuase and other honorable members giving a positive nod to the bill.
The Clark of the House, Agboje Benedict(Esq), observed the proceedings and made critical inputs when necessary
The administration of Hon. Innocent Esewezie, remains resolute towards ending indiscriminate sales of communal lands and land grabbers who have taken a trade in forceful acquisition of landed properties
