2024 Budget: Gov Oborevwori Earmarks Ñ46.55b on Education

Presenting a Ñ714.4b Appropriation bill for the 2024 fiscal year to the Delta State House of Assembly, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori earmarked Ñ46.53b on Education.

According to Oborevwori the budget christened, Budget of hope and optimism was made up of recurrent expenditure of Ñ316.6b representing 44percent and capital expenditure Ñ3979billion representing 96 Percent of the total budget.

The Governor disclosed that the 2024 budget proposal his first since coming to office was envisioned to put the economy on the path of the sustainable growth, boost investments and productivity, enhance the ease of doing business, and provide ample opportunities for the average citizen to participate in the economy.

He Further stressed that the personal cost of Ñ150b provided in the budget was in anticipation of domestication of a likely salary increase by the Federal Government sometime in 2024. While the overhead cost mirrors the inflationary trend in the country.

The Governor stated ” This administration will embark on the construction of M.O.R.E. official road infrastructure in the 2024 fiscal year because we are irrevocably committed to advancing urban-rural integration”.
“In 2024, we propose to spend Ñ150b on Road infrastructure, the Ministry of Works, For Health will gulp Ñ18.65b, 46.55b for Education. Agriculture, 7b and Urban Renewal Ñ75b Environment will gulp Ñ2.1b and Youth Development Ñ1.7b these key sectors are very essential in our 2024 budget”.
