WORKING HARMONIOUSLY AS CHRISTIANS IN ONE SPIRIT OF CHRIST

The descent of the Holy Spirit into our world sparked off the new unction of God’s presence and power in our world. It is a power that heals, delivers and recreates anew and repairs the world. And this Spirit blows where it wills and no one can stop its influence or control or determine to what extend it works.

And as all are under this influence of this powerful Holy Spirit, we must be humble and grateful to acknowledge this great power in our world and allow the Holy Spirit to continue the work it has come to do.

Jesus in the gospel of today therefore warns us against dictating, subjecting and limiting the influence of the power of the Holy Spirit in our world. Since we cannot determine its scope and influence in our world, it is imperative that we submit to his power and grace and never allow ourselves to become directors or masters trying to influence or determine where, what and how it operates.

Our mandate therefore is to be docile to its influence and to accept its purpose and power wherever and whenever it flows. So seeing someone casting out demon in the name of Jesus must be an added advantage to us and not a point of contention or discord. This attitude definitely must have been borne by jealousy and a spirit of exclusivity and pride.

Jesus expects us to work with all, live with all in harmony and unity with the aim of realizing the salvation and unity of humanity, liberating man from the shackles of the devil. By so doing we must therefore be accommodating to all persons who profess the same faith in Christ no matter how elementary or shallow their faith may appear.

Heavenly Father, grant us the spirit of unity, oneness in the propagation of the faith. May we value ourselves and members of your body and work harmoniously with the Holy Spirit for the building up of the Church and our world, in faith and moral through Christ our Lord.
