SATURDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER YEAR B
Acts 13:44-52
John 14:7-14
THE JOY OF LIVING IN THE UNITY OF THE TRUINE GOD
What distinguishes the new family of believers and marks them out is the understanding that Jesus is the visible presence of the invisible Father. He is the replica of God and the fact that God the Father, God the Son, that is Jesus himself and God the Holy Spirit are indivisible and inseparable One God. That the works carried out by Jesus is also the same work being done by the Father and the Holy Spirit.
And the people could not fathom this mystery at all. But in very plain and clear language Jesus continues to make it known to his disciples that he and the Father are one. That he cannot do anything except what he sees the Father doing and his teachings is directed and revealed from the Father himself. Jesus therefore makes it clear that his life is yoke, or is in unity with the Father.
This inseparability of God the Father from Jesus himself is further extended to us human being. That we can be yoked with them in carrying out the works of God. That being immersed in this union of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, we can share their abilities and capabilities.
Jesus admonishes us to seek to be close to the Triune God. To know and be yoked with the Triune God so that we may be able to do exactly what they do and carry out the tasks of fulfilling our lifelong desire and purpose of being one with our God.
It also means that with our oneness with the Triune God we will accomplish very many mighty works of salvation and miraculous acts that defile human knowledge and wisdom.
To achieve such union we must begin with believing firmly in the Father and in his Son Jesus Christ. Believing and trusting is submitting to their divine leadership, guidance and obedience to their teachings and instructions. It means following and conforming to the dictates of their instruction in Christ Jesus.
Then the powers that flow from Jesus will now extend to us and it will seem as if we are tapping into the resources of the Triune God. Jesus assures us as he tells us, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.”
Let us then unite ourselves with the Triune God in prayer and supplication asking for the needs of the world and our dear needs and aspirations too.
God our Father, in your Son Jesus Christ we gain the confidence of fulfillment and answers to our prayers and supplications. Hear us as we pray each day, answer our prayers and petitions, fulfill the desires of our hearts, granting us peace of heart, provision, protection, progress in life and union with you through Christ our Lord.
