Acts 13:26-33
John 14:1-6
OVERCOMING ANXIETIES AND WORRIES
Our lives on earth most times are filled with so much stress, so much troubles and so much distressing situations. To nurse and harbor such distressing and stressing situation creates fear, and chaos in us leading to interpersonal squabbles, frictions and total breakdown of the human person at times.
Jesus understands this situation of man. He offers us a solution that can help heal and put anxieties, worries and stress on check. He asked his disciples in the gospel of today, why are you troubled, and he encourages his disciples never to allow their hearts be troubled because they have God the Father and himself with him.
So the antidote is to trust in him and to trust in God. Trusting in Jesus for our providence, trusting in God the Father because he offers us greater life in the world and in the after world, a place of eternal habitation. And Jesus declares to them the obvious union of himself with the Father for our wellbeing. That even a place of their abide is being prepared for them. And he is going to get ready for us a place of this happiness and he will return to take us to this place of happiness.
And he declares to them that he is the Way, the Truth and the Life. We are being led to the knowledge that Jesus has above all, our back to watch, our lives to protect and our interests to take care of. That is his mission on earth. He came for this reason and died for this same reason.
In the Acts of the Apostles, our reading of today, Paul narrated the saving mission of Christ prepared before the world began and accomplish through the Jewish people down through our times. And Paul demonstrates how Jesus offered himself and his life for our salvation. This teaching is the content of our faith in Christ. It is the source of our salvation and the more we listen the more we must be inspired to know how much has been accomplished for our wellbeing.
To gain from the events of Jesus’ life and mission, we are urged to grow our faith in Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Believing in Christ heals our anxieties and worries, calms our anxious mind and brings liberation to our minds. So the teachings of Paul in the first reading is to encourage our accent to the faith, our believing, our trusting and our total submission to Christ which finds expression in our way of life, our charity to the world and our calm disposition always.
We are therefore called to live in faith, trust and hope in the Lord Jesus and the life to come, eternal habitation. That is the sure hope that nurses our anxiety and worries.
Heavenly Father, in Jesus we experience the joy of victory over all our problems, difficulties and bad situations, because he is our Way, Our Truth and life. Bless our faith to grow, to accepting, to reclining and to submitting to Jesus. Help us to trust him wholeheartedly, depend on his sustenance, be contented with his blessings and always be faithful to him in all circumstance through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
