MAKING A HOME FOR THE INDWELLING OF THE TRINTY

The desire of every Christian is to have the Holy Trinity dwelling in us, directing our lives, leading the way and protecting us in life. It is every Christian’s desire to win life and be at peace with God. But what does it really take to achieve this union with God?

Our gospel of today points to the conditions necessary to keep and entertain the holy Trinity in us. Jesus expects that every Christian prepares his or her heart for the comfort and accommodation of the Holy Trinity which is God’s desire, and pleasure. And keeping the commandments of God will enable us achieve this. Our love of God is shown when we keep his commandments.

It is the love of God that actually moves us to keep his commandments. And keeping his commandment is a necessary condition that allows the Holy Trinity to dwell in us. For the Father comes to protect and provide for our wellbeing, and the Son, Jesus Christ brings us redemption and forgiveness of sins, while the Holy Spirit sanctifies and nourishes us with the grace to triumph and excel.

The presence of the Holy Trinity is a testimony of our union with God and only that enhances our witnessing to the world. For the Trinity fosters our witnessing and empower us adequately to be of service to humanity.

We see in the acts of the apostles, our first reading today how Paul and his companion, Barnabas preached and prayed for the healing of a born cripple and their prayers came with its full manifestation of the healing powers of God. This could only have been possible because of the presence of the Trinity showing their power through the ministry of these apostles.

The misunderstanding and misrepresentation by the natives of the land who supposed Paul and his companion, Barnabas to be gods is a testimony of their recognition of the fact that something beyond Paul and his companion happened through them. Ascribing such to their gods and goddesses is only an affirmation to us Christians that God desires to live in us, act through us thereby bringing blessings, joys and happiness into our lives.

Heavenly Father, you called us to be your instruments and you desire to be present and manifest your power through us. Lord, we beg you never to depart from us. As we receive the Eucharist and listen to your word, may your presence be evident in us. Live with us, bless our life, empower us, animate our life and grant us healing of all our infirmities, grant us peace of mind, happiness and progress in all we do. Manifest your presence in our life by works of goodness, miracles and supernatural deeds through Jesus Christ our Lord.
