1 Samuel 18:6-9; 19: 1-7
Mark 3:7-12
A CARING, LOVING GOD JESUS IS.
An undenial fact about the mission and life of our Saviour Jesus Christ is that of his looking out for our good and wellbeing. He cares for our wellbeing. His interest is to save, to heal, to restore us back to the Father. He spent his entire life in service of the people, both rich and poor alike as well as Jews and gentiles too.
The gospel describes his disposition to all those who approached him. He welcomes them all. He spends time with them, he heals and restores them to normalcy of good health, deliverance from evil attack and protection from all harm. Even the raging crowds that came for him, none of them went back without having been healed and taught by him.
His consciousness of his mission towards humanity is so great and he carried it out faithfully to the glory of God our Father.
SO, his healing, teaching and works of restoration is even more now. He has never been tired. His powers cannot be stopped because of his elevation into the heavenly realm. As he cured, healed and restored while in this world, even so and more now that he has taken his place in the heavenly glories. His powers now is very active, and efficacious. He continues to save us, to heal us, to restore us to God and to direct us towards God.
In the first reading, the jealousy of Saul over David is one of the weaknesses of man. Because of the singing of these women who attributed to David the killing of ten thousand and that of Saul just thousand, the jealousy and anger of Saul was rekindled against David. But the most significant part is that played by Jonathan. He cameĀ between these two and bringing his Father, Saul to make a promise never to hurt David.
Doing Good and restoring peace among warring fraction is a good act and such is admirable. We must be seen to bring love and concord, peace and unity, happiness and oneness among people. That is our mandate, our duty and our calling as Christians.
Just as Jesus continues to do good, we must follow also in same stride to be good to people. Jesus is still doing the good he knows how to do. And He continues it forever through us and in us.
Our call is therefore to trust him, recline upon him, entreat him, to bring ourselves, our problems and our challenges to him and he is able and abundantly able to save, to heal, to restore and to deliver those who trust in him.
Heavenly Father in Jesus your Son we are granted the powers of the eternal high priest who pleads our cause. May his healing powers come upon us, restoring us to good health of mind and body. May his spirit be infused in us and drive away all foul spirit in us and May his teaching illumine our minds and bring us new insight, better knowledge and wisdom through Christ our Lord.
