Gov Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and Patron of Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN) in the State has said that Nigerians should ensure that the labour of the past heroes is not in vain, as he urged everybody to work towards realising the lofty heights the founding fathers envisage for the Country.
According to Oborevwori “I acknowledge the Courage, Sacrifices and Tenacity of our heroes which includes our past and present leaders at all levels, for their determination and commitment to keep the country as one union.”
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori disclosed this in his speech at the 63rd Independence Day Anniversary of the Country at Cenotaph, Asaba, Delta State.
He said it is important to give thanks to Almighty God that our country, despite numerous challenges, has remained united and strong.
He paid tributes to our founding fathers who fought gallantly for our Country’s Independence.
The Governor maintained that despite the difficult situation facing the country now, Nigerians should maintain peace, unity, progress, faith and hope because tough times never last but tough people do.
Oborevwori further explained that what is important is for Nigerians to work for the unity of the country and place the country first for growth and development.
The governor stated that ”
I salute all members of the Armed Forces and Security Agencies for efforts to ward off all threats to the unity and territorial integrity of the country. I also remember our fallen heroes and families, and I encourage Nigerians to remember their families in their prayers. I pray for God’s protection and blessing on them for the Sacrifices they have made and continue making to keep us united and secured.”
He said that when his administration came on board in May 29, 2023, the administration hit the ground running by completing most of the projects inherited from the previous administration and commissioning them, stressing that his leadership is initiating new projects in consonance with the M.O.R.E Agenda.
My administration is irrevocably committed to advancing urban- rural integration through the construction of critical road infrastructure and urban renewal, Oborevwori stated.
-“During the electioneering campaign, I pledge to give Warri our commerical nerve centre a facelift. We have commenced the process with the award of contract to construction giant, Julius Berger for the construction of three flyover bridges, clover leaf and road expansion.
At the completion of the three bridges and clover leaf in Warri, the city will surely wear a new and impressive look. We are poised to do M.O.R.E for the sustainable development of the State.”
Finally, the Governor thanked all Deltans and residents in the State for peace that they have enjoyed. This is crucial because meaningful development has captured in his M.O.R.E Agenda program and can only take place in an atmosphere of peace and security, he appealed to the people of the State to sustain peace.
