Delta Accountant General Builds School worth Billions of Naira

Former Delta State Accountant General, Cyril Agbele has been accused of building a school in Asaba worth billions of naira.

Investigations revealed that the building which is situated along Asaba-Benin Expressway, is opposite Animal Care Company.

The building which is about 3 storey building is still under construction.

It was alleged that it was part of the money stolen from the treasury of Delta State Government while in office as Accountant General that he is investing in the school project.

Cyril Agbele is the Chairman, Bureau of State Pension Board.

Following the discovery of the ownership of the building, a group known as Delta Accountability and Transparency Forum, has forwarded a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja to look into the ownership of the building.

In a petition signed by one Aniemeke Abraham and Igho Cornel and made available to the press vowed to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion until the former Accountant General is brought to book.

It would be recalled that the Chairman, Bureau of State Pension Board, Cyril Agbele was screened by the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) without the academic credentials as stipulated by law.

The petition contained that he was arrested by the Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over N14billion fraud allegation. It was revealed that Cyril Agbele  allegedly paid the above sum of money from the State coffers to contractors who were his cronies without the knowledge of the governor.

The petition further explained that he took over 10% from the contract before payment was made.

It was gathered that the former Accountant General of the State was investigated for a fraud of N15billion in 2018. The special presidential investigation panel for recovering of public property initiated the arrest of Agbele for allegedly being involved in diversion of properties worth over N7billion.
