There are fears that there may be an outbreak of epidemic and cholera disease at Government Model Secondary School, Asaba in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, if appropriate measures are not put in place to checkmate the ugly trend.
Every nooks and crannies of the school premises lacks proper sanitary measures. The school compound is littered with faeces because of poor toilet system.
What baffles the eye is that defications have become the order of the day round the School vicinity as a result of not having good toilet system
It will be interested to note that as big as the school, one cannot be proud of a healthy toilet system which makes it difficult for students that are pressed to use.
Most parents who are not comfortable with the poor sanitary condition of the school, have started changing their wards from the school to other schools where they maintain good sanitary system.
Students whose parents cannot afford to change their children to other Schools, are calling on the authority of the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to interven into this ugly situation for the students to have conducive toilet system.
In another development, the school lacks conducive atmosphere for learning.The classrooms are not condusive for learning most especially during the day where every where has been charged by the sun.
As a result of the evaporation of heat coming out from the broken ceilings, students sweat seriously and find it difficult to pay attention to the teachers during lectures. The intimidation from the heat has made students to come to school with hand fans to calm the situation.
