Home Newspaper Group Debunks False Publication Against El-Comfort Hospital
- Some Deltans under the aegis of Deltans Concerned Movement Forum have reacted over a misleading publication by one Victor Ojei, popularly called Wong Box against El-Comfort Hospital, Asaba, Delta State.
The leader of the group, Comrade Fabian Chukwuma Ogoegbune described the publication as falsehood and expressed displeasure in the publication, which he said is aimed at deliberately misleading the general public.
The publication authored by Victor Ojei, is completely misleading and we are advising the general public to disregard it, because is a product of personal vendetta by the author who was in the forefront of negotiating, between the hospital and the affected parents of the dead baby.
When it was glaring that the negotiation plan of Victor Ojei has failed to yield fruit, he resulted in using his Wong box social media platform to dish out lies out of frustration to the public.
El-Comfort Hospital is a hospital with integrity, with well equipped facilities and trained personnel. One can’t become a true activist with lies, no amount of blackmails, lies and propaganda deployed by Victor Ojei would tarnish the good image of the hospital, which has been built over years.
We cannot fold our hands and allow Victor Ojei to use lies and bogus propaganda to deceive the general public. The best way to speak to the public is to tell the truth.
To put the record straight, the baby in question was delivered in one of the hospitals in Issele-Uku in Aniocha North, Local Government Area, after which, the baby was referred to Asaba Specialist Hospital since the baby could not breath.
It will be on record that from Asaba Specialist Hospital, the child was referred to Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, from where the child was transferred to El-Comfort Hospital due to lack of space as narrated by the parents in recorded discussions.
On arrival at El-Comfort Hospital, the baby was in coma and placed on life support until the baby died.
For 10 days, the baby was in oxygen and life support, they didn’t pay any deposit to the hospital, except for a few items that were sourced from outside the hospital.
When eventually the baby died, the dead body was handed to the father by a nurse (names withheld) on duty. The father, mother and grand-mother had custody of the dead baby’s body all through the night on the fateful day, before the father carried the baby out of the hospital to go and bury at about 5:30am.
What baffles the eyes was that after over 4 hours, the parents had left the hospital with the baby’s corpse, only to return to the hospital to accuse the nurse of tempering the body of the dead child.
We believed that there is something fishy, the father of the deceased should be held responsible for whatever happened. How could it be told that the body of your child was tempered you didn’t raise alarm not until you got home after over 4hours you returned the baby to say you discovered that the body was tempered. Who is fooling who?
The truth of the matter is that the author of the publication has not been properly briefed on the true position of the matter and should make efforts to search for full information about the issue.
Reasons for removing the matter from the first IPO was that, the officer had began to influence the case with his position, because himself and the parents of the dead baby are from the same State, attend the same church and town’s meeting. If he continues with the matter, there is no way justice will prevail. The best option was to assign another IPO who is neutral to investigate the matter and the circumstances that led to the tempering of the body of the dead child.
The claim by Victor Ojei accusing the police to have been biased with the matter after collecting bribe, was not true, because the police have charge the matter to a court in Asaba.
We were surprised that Victor Ojei could petition Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Dame Edith Okowa, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Health, ICPC, amongst others for a case before a competent court to determine.
