To ensure delivery of projects in accordance with contractual agreements, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, on Wednesday inspected projects being undertaken by his administration.

The inspection visits were aimed at ensuring delivery of quality of work.

The first point of call was the bridge across the Orogodo River, linking Edike and Okoh Streets in Agbor metropolis, where he expressed satisfaction with the quality of work being done.

He commended the contractor for ensuring that quality materials were being used, assuring that the local government would continue to provide needed support for contractors executing projects so long as they obey contractual agreements.

He used the opportunity to call on residents of Ika South to desist from dumping waste into culverts and waterways as, according to him, “the attitude of our people dropping waste indiscriminately is shameful and condemnable. It creates a lot of environmental challenges that include damage to our roads and defacing the landscape. This, we will no longer tolerate.”

The Ika South boss also visited Alifekede where he promised to renovate the market, adding that as a border town, government was very interested in what happens there.

Ehiwarior expressed happiness with the quality and speed of ongoing construction of convenience at the market for use of traders and customers.

He noted that the borehole project in the market recently executed by the council was a result of a request made by the community and traders, stressing that his administration would continue to put the interest of the people first.

Earlier in the week, the Chairman was at Ika South Vocation and Skill Acquisition Centre in Agbor, to inspect the facility.

During his tour of the facility, Engr. Ehiwarior noted that the centre needed to be revived for proper utilization and benefit of the youths of Ika South Local Government Area.

“We need to revive this centre so that it can be put to use for the benefit of our people, particularly the youths, as a way of engaging them for self- reliance This will further improve commercial activities in our community,” he said.

He stressed the need for the people to be made aware of the presence of the facility for them to take advantage of it to build and develop themselves.
