The Odu Oma Club of Nigeria, an association that serves as one of the mouthpiece for Delta North, attended the traditional burial rite of the late Asagba of Asaba, Prof Chike Edozien, who joined his ancestors recently.
The Club has been in existence for over three decades and had remained the only existing, consistent and vociferous Organization from Delta North of that age and nature. It had close affiliation with the late Asagba while he was alive.
It could be recalled that the club which started from the University of Ibadan by some Delta North Professors and non academic staff of the University, gave the name ANIOMA to the Delta North, which the district or region is being addressed till date. The Club renamed the area as ANIOMA, during the regime of Colonel Tunde Ogbeha , who was then the Military Governor of the defunct Bendel State, and who gave his full consent to it.
The Club had done vital work in Delta North District without publicity.
One of the major work done was the paperwork presentation to the National Assembly for the pursuance for the creation of Anioma State , which remained the only acceptable working document from Delta State for State creation.
The club which is not partisan, has also been able to assist for the better placement of Delta North sons and daughters both in the public and private sectors in the State and nationally and preventing marginalization of any sort.
The club has branches in Kano, Jos, Abraka, Ekpoma and Asaba, which is the headquarters. The membership is only opened to only sons and daughters of Delta North extractions.Women that are married to sons of Delta North, are also admitted into the membership.
