Okpanam, a peaceful town in Oshimili North Local Government Area, and located within the capital territory of Delta State, has witnessed a gunshot murder in the history of the town. Mr Ikem Nimawu, a former worker in one of the oil companies in Nigeria was murder at dusk, by a bullet of an assailant alleged to had come from Obodogwugwu quarter, of the town.
According to report gathered from sources, he was shot on the chest at the balcony in his house in Idigbe Oji quarter, while having a night relaxation.
Sources had it that he was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital, Asaba, the capital city of Delta State, where he died a day after a surgical operation was performed on him.
Same sources revealed that the suspected assailant is presently at large.
It was a known fact that never in the history of Okpanam that such a devilish act was performed.
It was clear that such evil which had become a norm and part of a living in Ibusa, a nearby town has crawled into Okpanam, which must be arrested with immediate effect.
