The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide, Delta State, has called on the former governor of Delta State, James Onanafe lbori and lghoyota Amori, to stop distracting the governnor of Delta State, Senator lfeanyi Okowa and allow him to concertrate on governance. This warning was sounded to the duo in their Youth meeting held in Orchid Hotel, Asaba, Delta State Capital City. The group said it has been following the recent political development in the State and it has also been in the know of the preasure being mounted on Gov lfeanyi Okowa by lbori and Amori, in order to impose their crony Mr. David Edebvie, as the Delta Governor, come 2023. It could be recalled that Amori and Edebvie, were cabinet and inner caucus members of the dreaded lbori’s administration that looted the treasury of Delta State. Edebvie, assisted lbori in money laundry, which lbori was convicted and jailed in London,with his wife, sister and lawyer. They have served and completed their jail terms.
The group confirmed that it has a very big stake in Delta State as such it will continue to work with any government that has the interests of the lgbo nation, which Okowa has exhibited. The group used the privilege to call on Okowa, as a responsible and qualified son of lbo extraction to join the 2023 Presidential race under the umbrella of the PDP, which he is a member. The lbo Youth group which has its structures in all the local government in Delta State, and has the capacity of mobilizing thousands of lbos during election advised lbori, Amori, person or persons, group or groups to stop discrediting the Speaker of Delta State, Sheriff, whom those who claimed to be more Deltans than others is being projected by Okowa as his successor. Sheriff, as a Deltan is qualified and has the right like any other Deltan to aspire for the position of the Governor of Delta State. As the current Speaker of the State he has achieved a lot for the State. There has been peace and tranquility between the members of the Delta House of Assembly, and also between the Legislative Arm and the Executve Arm. Delta State is made up three Sentorial Districts, namely Delta North (Anoima, the lbo speaking area), Central and South. All are of equal rights. And non is more Deltan than the other or has stakes than the other
The Youth group which is made up of all the lbo speaking areas in Delta State and lbos from across the Niger that reside in Delta State, stated that lbori and Amori, have no constitutional rights to impose on Okowa, the person to succeed him as a governor. Speaking further, the group maintained that we are in democracy, as such Deltans should be allowed to elect their governor come 2023. They advised Okowa not to yield to pressures and make sure that the right person who has the interests of all Deltans succeeds him. He should not allow mischief to deceive and drag him into the mud. The group stressed that lbori, Amori and Edebvie had the opportunities to re-write history in a good way while in government, but failed because of their self centredness.
Concerning the ugly utterances of some Northern groups, the Ibo Youth group used this medium to send a very serious warning to the Northerners to henceforth stop such ugly utterances on the South, as such will not be tolerated any longer from the Northerners that make such statements. They advised the Northern Leaders to immediately call those groups to order as failure to do so will lead to unimaginable consequences that may likely consume the North. They should know that no Region in Nigeria is a monopoly of violence. Every Region in Nigeria has the capacity to wage war against each other. No Region should send a threat to another. Being calm is no fear.
In conclusion, the group lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari and his APC led government as government of failure that didn’t meant well for the country. The group stated that why Nigerians voted in APC and voted out PDP led bad government was for the APC to bring good governance, unfortunately Nigerians didn’t know that APC is a dead wood that has nothing to offer. They called on Nigerians to get it right this time around come 2023,by voting in the right people irrespective of party affiliation, religion and tribe.
