The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Youth Wing, Delta State Branch, rising from an emergency meeting, held Grand Hotel,in Asaba, the capital city, has lambasted Senator Umeh, the pioneer Chairman of APGA, for his unreserved statement recently. Umeh, during a Channel’s television interview, made it clear that the lgbo speaking areas of Delta State and Rivers State have no stake in producing a President of lgbo extraction in 2023. From Umeh’s statement, it has shown that it is only the five Igbo speaking States across the Niger, has the exclusive right to produce the President of lgbo extraction come 2023. Umeh’s statement has generated a high tension in Delta State.
From Umeh’s recent statement it has revealed once again that the lgbos across the Niger are only using their brothers and sisters from Delta State and Rivers State to achieve their aims. This has confirmed that the lgbos from across the Niger have a hidden agenda. One wondered what prompted Umeh to make such unguided public utterance without looking back to history. This was not the first time some self acclaimed lgbo Leaders from across the Niger have made some unreserved statements. It could be recalled that during the movement for the creation of new States in Nigeria, while in one of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo meetings, when the Delta lgbos’ representatives requested that the additional One State that the lgbo nation was requesting for, should be given to their brothers from Delta State to make the lgbo speaking States six, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu made unpalatable statement that the State cannot be given to Delta State, because we are not one. He stated that the River Niger has demarcated us. If Umeh and lwuanyawu have forgotten history so soon, they should be reminded that during the Nigerian civil war, without the military of lgbo extraction from Delta State, Biafra wouldn’t have survived the war. It was the soldiers from Delta State that fought the war for them. Biafra had 9 Military Divisions, the lgbos from Delta State, controlled 7 Divisions. So, what nonsense were Umeh and lwuanyawu insinuating. The 380million pounds recovered from the white men in Ukpai Gas Plant Company, Delta State, who did Col Achuzia handed the money to? Was it not Ojukwu?
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing, Delta State, has threatened to severe relationship with the lgbos from across the Niger if Umeh failed to issue unreserved apology to Delta lgbos and Rivers lgbos. Umeh should know that without out the support of lgbos from Delta and Rivers, the possibility of producing lgbo President in 2023 is slim. If Umeh thought that the lgbos from across the Niger can do it alone, we shall see whether light will come out from the tunnel. The Delta Ohanaeze Youth, which is very on ground in Delta State has said her members won’t be attending Ohanaeze Ndigbo meetings any longer. One does not go to where he or she is not wanted. Or where there is no trust.
