Over stashed N250 million Obodogba Community Fund Stalk In Secret Account.
Obodogba Community, Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, was said to have lost over N250 million stashed in a secret account by some criminals that hijacked the colourate Land Recovery Committee set up for personal purpose.
Sources revealed to ZN that the said amount was allegedly hidden in the account of one Steven Okonta, a member of same land criminal cartel, who recently joined his ancestors.
ZN garnered that what these criminals that have turned the committee into a conduit pipe of stealing community funds under the pretence of trying to recover unapproved lands sold by some members of the community illegally do was to use this offshore secret to divert the money meant for the community which they share within themselves without the knowledge of the large community.
According to ZN sources, a twist came into the secret game when Steven Okonta suddenly died. It said that those involved in the criminality have making frantic effort to pull out the money to no avail because the said child of late Steven Okonta, has refused to corporate for now to assisting them in pulling out the money, despite the mouth watery offers already promsed him. Now that the father is dead, it won’t be possible to pull out the money without the assistance of the child.
For now, the sources said that the criminals are seriously in a dilemma.
The sources further stated that the criminals were still pushing to make sure the child played along with them. It was said that the criminals have even gotten to the state of secretly inviting some juju men into the matter without the knowledge of the child so that the child’s mind can be robot to agreeing to their request.
Some notable Obodogba indigenes told ZN that they knew about the issue on ground. They stated that they cannot allow criminality to triumph in Obodogba Quarter while alive, saying that those criminals will surely be brought to book when the time comes.
Also some members of the committee who have been sidetracked revealed to ZN with documents of secret deals executed by th’ese criminal cartels. They told ZN that they parted ways with the dissidents because the purpose why the committee was set has bee truncated. More so the idea of bringing a criminal from the east to head the committee and decide the faith of indigenes on their patrimony was unacceptable.
Another area of disagreement according according to the sidetracked members was that most of the said recovered lands were taken over by these criminals which were secretly annex to themselves under the pretence of recovery and later sold, the money put into their personal pockets.
Till date money paid for regularization by some persons can not be accounted for, according to the sidetracked.
They further stated that it was unheard in anywhere that the said lgbo person brought by these cabals to head the committee was being given fifteen percent of total sum of recovery made.
Meanwhile they have stated that these criminals will never go unpunished either now or in near future.
