The worst thing that has ever happened to Igbo Nation (Ndigbo), apart from the incident of the Nigeria Civil War, was the emergence of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
The Organization was formed as a mouthpiece of Ndigbo. But today it has jettisoned the purpose because criminals who parade themselves as elected members of the National Executive, Women Wing, Youth Wing etc use the good name of the Organization to be duping public office holders, politicians, wealthy lgbo sons and daughters, including non lgbos.
Recently, a Human Rights Organization, Civil Liberties Organization, Delta State branch, criticised the fraudulent activities of some Executive members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, from the national, women and youth bodies. The Civil Liberties Organization, noticed from various information, of how these Executive members have been using the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to be defrauding the public. The sources even revealed how the National Executive members wanted to unlawfully remove the National Secretary of the Organization because he criticised the evil activities of these fraudulent cabals and refused to join them in their stock in trade. Although the plan failed.
Recent development even revealed how the Acting Youth Leader, Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, made an indicting statement on Ohanaeze Ndigbo, pleading for soft landing and release of Beta Edu, a former Minister of Humanitarian Services, who criminally defrauded the country of billions of naira. The aim of the statement by Chukwuma, according to sources was to collect money from the trouble Minister. Despite knowing the weight of the office, this Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Leader, went to make such a silly public statement on behalf of the Organization without being relieved of his position. Although, the Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, criticised Chukwuma, for making such public outburst on behalf of the Organization, but some true sons and daughters of Ala Igbo, were not satisfied with the criticism, as that was not enough. These Igbos that spoke to ZN, stated that if the Executive members of the Organization, were not in the same stock in trade with Chukwuma, very stringent measures should have been taken against him.
This same Chukwuma, in 2023, before the general election came with the criminal cartels in Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to defraud the immediate past Governors of Delta State, lfeanyi Okowa and Lagos State, Sanwa Olu, including lgbo sons in Lagos State, of millions of naira.
Former Governor of River State, now Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesome Wike, was also duped US $300,000(dollars).
Valentine Ozigbo, who was a governorship aspirant, was also duped N500,000, while Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, escaped their wrath.
We can go on and on mentioning names of victims to these Ohanaeze Ndigbo criminals.
Today, majority of lgbo sons and daughters are not happy with Ohanaeze Ndigbo, because of the big shame these criminals have brought to Igbo Nation.
Information reaching ZN, from a reliable quarter, revealed that the Organization has been fingered as one of those secretly supporting the incarceration of Nnamdi Kalu.
Meanwhile, some good spirited people of Igbo Nation have called on Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, who recently took over from the late Professor Obiazor, as the new President General to use his good office to reorganize Ohanaeze Ndigbo and bring back its past glory, by making sure that this coming elections of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, that only those reputable sons and daughters of Igbo Nation with clean slate records were elected to run the affairs of the Organization. He should also make sure that non of these present National Executive members from the parent body, women and youth wings were reelected to any office.
They stated, that due to the bad image created by these criminals on Ohanaeze Ndigbo, before the public that has seriously affected the existence of the Organization in Delta State and Rivers State apart from the core Igbo States.
However, they revealed that if Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, whom they felt have the capability of turning things around from negativity to possibility in the Organization should use persons like the former Federal Commissioner for Fiscal Mobilization and Deputy President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Ejiofor Onyia, Former Clerk of Delta House of Assembly and member of last Election Committee of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Dan Okenyi, Chief Emeka Okolie etc, who believe in Igbo Nation and hail from lgbo extraction of Delta State to bring up Delta State Ohanaeze Ndigbo. So should imply in Rivers State.
